The most beautiful dog I have ever met. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Li-Li is the most special and most beautiful dog I have ever met. She was incredibly smart from the very start and learned to scratch door to go out after one lesson. When she was younger she used to jump through hoops and many other tricks for us. I will have to be honest, she was capable of learning more, we just couldn't think up any new tricks. You got more and more gentle as you aged Li. You were always a good judge of character and situation. I often wish I had your intuition or instinct for this. Later in life you developed kidney disease or we had finally detected it. You were always such a good sport about having to eat the new food provided for you and you were a fighter! You lasted much longer than they had thought you would! You were so amazing to us. You could be happy just being near us or you were always happy to take long walks with us. We always talk about how you would return to us as if to thank us for taking you on a walk. It was very hard for us to get a tail wag out of you, yet it was as though you knew we cherished this and made sure to give us a very hearty one before you left.

Your last days were a testament to your strength and courage. You were in pain and incredibly sick and yet you carried on and persevered in those little goals you set in front of yourself. I took you out so that you could relieve yourself and you obviously had other plans. Even though you could only manage a few steps at a time before stopping to rest, you made a complete lap of what had passed for your yard. It was dark when you had your last adventure, you made several very obvious stops along our little walk. Imagine my surprise when I walked it again the next couple of days and saw what you were trying to show me! Thank you for showing us what life is and how beauty can be found anywhere, if you look hard enough.

Your very nature has brought me closer to God in my faith. I do not curse because He took you from us, but I thank Him for giving us the opportunity to share our lives with you.
