…..I remember the day I brought you home. Wrapped up in a baby blanket, carefully and slowly carried in a basket. You were only 5 weeks old. I fell in love with you, everlasting. I had to hand feed you, it seemed forever. Time passed fast and before I knew it, you have grown.

I recall sharing ice cream cone’s with you many times. We both loved ice cream in the summer time and we would take turns as fast as we could together, hardly could wait for each other’s turn.

You would wait 24 hours at the window gazing outside while I was at work, I still wonder if you ever moved. Your brother always said, that you looked like a statue, starring and waiting for me to come home.

I still see you in my bed, as you were for the past 10 years. Always right there and protecting me. You never let anyone get to close to me. You did you guard dog duty without a doubt; Strangers surely couldn't see
my gentle greatest companion--behind those fangs.

I wanted you to stay forever with me. But the day came where I had to give you up.

You became sick; it was unbearable even to consider the thought of loosing you.
I took you to the vet; she said that you are in renal failure and that there is no cure.
Two days and two nights, we lay beside each other on the floor, watching and loving you while infusing fluids, hoping and praying your kidneys would start working again.

That Friday, you were as if nothing ever happened. You looked joyful and sturdy and my heart felt relief. You were hanging on, eating good and loving me. Sunday, we had a good day, however later that evening I could tell that some of your strength was lost. Monday, you stopped eating. And I tried to hand feed you, oh did I try, but you wouldn’t have a bite. I called the vet, crying………when I looked into your eyes I could see only emptiness and despair. That night, I had to make a choice that I would not let you suffer.
Brokenhearted, I wrapped you and your goose in a blanket and carried you to the vet. Holding you tied, never letting go, kissing and whispering into your ears how much I love you…. hardly seeing through my tears.

As you slipped away, the last things you felt were the kisses, hugs and tears. I was leaning and praying
that at last we will be together again … whispering” I love you so much and that I miss you forever”. You were my greatest companion for the past 10 years whom loved me, no matter what. No one will ever take your place.

If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.
