Lucy was the greatest dog in the world, at least to me. She was smart, lovable and such a character. She is missed so much. My other dog Heidi is so sad. I would give Lucy and Heidi a bone and when Lucy was done with her's, she would go to the door, ring the bell to get Heidi to run outside then go back and take Heidi's bone. She was a cutie pie. I tied a bell on the door handle, and with two weeks Lucy would hit the bell when she wanted outside. Even in her last days, even when it was so hard for her to get up, she would go to the door and hit that bell to let me know she wanted out.
Her passing was not expected. We saw her slowing down, but when we took her to the vet's that one last time for some tests I thought she would come back home. The news from the office was very bad and I hurried to be at her side. Lucy somehow managed to lift her head and wag her tail and put her nose on mine. I held her, kissed her and told her I love you Lucy girl. Thank you for all the joy you have given me, now go to the Rainbow bridge and wait there for me. I will come and get you to be with you forever and ever. I just hope she knows how much I love her and miss her. The pain is unbearable.....
