Our precious Emma was taken from us at the age of 2 from PDE, a rare genetic disease.

Emma we love you! Thank you for bringing so much joy, laughter, and love to our lives. We will never forget you and will miss you each and every day.
I love…
How you would follow me to the bathroom while I did my makeup and just watch me do the girlie things. You’d try to get on the counter to get to everything.
How you wouldn’t lick up water to drink. Instead you’d dunk your mouth in the water and bite at it.
How when you walked, you strutted because you knew you were so darn cute.
How you owned everything and everyone. You would jump on any counter or table and walk around and you’d do the same thing to people.
How you would curl up next to Deuce on the couch and just snuggle with him.
How you would be jealous if any other dog was getting attention instead of you.
How clever you are…like the one time we left you for an hour to go to Mike’s basketball game and when we got home…the trash can was tipped over, you were inside it…licking the rotisserie chicken clean.
How you would wag your tail so quickly because you were always so happy.
How you never let me feel lonely…you would go anywhere with me and just snuggle up against me.
How when we took an x-ray of you after your fall…your heart was as big as your entire body. You’ve always been all heart and full of love.
How you are a fighter…so strong, brave, and fearless. Nothing…not even your cast….could slow you down.
How you snored louder than anyone else in our family, even though you were the smallest in the family.
How you would tilt your head when we mentioned the words, treat, dog park, or din din and then would dance around till you got what you wanted.
How you would give Mike the cold shoulder when he returned from one of his trips because you were mad at him for leaving you for a week.
How you always planned your sneak attack on Deuce.
How you hated baths and would dunk your head under the water to try to get away from our soapy hands.
How you would spaz out after your bath and run around wild, flipping on your back and rubbing against the carpet or your dog bed.
How you had selective hearing…you’d ignore us until we promised you a treat and then you’d dance and hop around until you got one.
How you would scarf your food down as fast as you can and then go over to Deuce’s bowl to make sure he didn’t get something different than you, and then lick his bowl clean searching for leftovers.
How you loved to go for a walk and the dog park. And as soon as we were about to turn around and start heading back…you’d know and then you’d instantly start your attack on Deuce…munching his back legs like a chicken bone.
How you would be lost without Deuce. When he would trick you and hide…you never gave up searching for him until you found him again.
How you would lick the windows.
How you would give more kisses than anyone I know
Emma…you gave us unconditional love and you’ll be remembered every day of our lives. You were beautiful, strong, crazy, and the most loved puppy in the world.
Emma…you are and always will be daddy’s little girl
You were and always will have a very big special place in my heart. There will never be another dog as sweet and pretty as you.

How you acted like you haven’t seen us in years every time we walked through the door…even if we were only gone an hour
How you would bust through the doggy door at 100 miles an hour
How every morning, you would shoot down the stairs full speed and begin twirling with the excitement of breakfast
How at night, you would push your nose against my back until I lifted the covers so you could be comfy and tucked in
How you loved Deuce so much and followed him everywhere he went…like at the time at the dog park when you lost him
How you would always be so jealous when any other dog got more attention than you
How you were so unbelievably cute with your cast and how you clubbed me in the head with it to wake my lazy ass up
How you knew when daddy was ready to play with you, and just with a noise, you would immediately begin scanning the floor for one of your toys we could play with
How you would wait until we moved your bowl away from Deuces so you could start eating
How you were all over my feet as soon as I took my socks off
How you had no regard for personal space and would walk all over me and my computer
How cute you looked when you cuddled with Deuce and how you loved laying on him
How when we went to the dog park you would start barking at the first dog you saw
How great you did swimming at Amber and Joe’s lake and how fearless you were in the stream at the dog park
How every time deuce went and smelled something, you were all up in the same thing he was smelling, just in case he found something good you didn’t want to miss it
How you would always go after the deuces back legs to bite on because you just wanted to play with him
How you would watch the whole episode of Jurassic Fight Club
How you always saw dogs on TV and barked trying to find them
How you wagged your tail super fast
How you would shake with anger when deuce got you really upset
How you would stare deuce down with that look that you were ready to pounce
How you would lay by me all the time
How you would dance for your treats
Emma girl…I will miss all of these things so so much. They will never be replaced.
You have been such a great friend to me, and I will remember you every day that I live.
You will always have a huge place in my heart and mind.
What I will miss the most is you following me everywhere I went around the house no matter where and that you loved me unconditionally . Your kisses were so special and so sweet…and I would do anything to have them back

While this is not my memory, but my favorite story that I've heard about Emma is the road trip you and Mike took and she and Duece ate all of the chocolate in the car. ~ Katie Wegleitner
Abby calling her Elmo when she first met her. Then the next year, she called her Emma and every dog that looked similar to a pug…was from now on known as Emma. ~ Keith Colvin
