You weren't simply a companion, but a once in a life time soul mate. GOODBYE MY PUPPY.....

Here was a dog that was on its last breath of chance at the SPCA. She was moved from shelter to shelter in a three month period, trying to find someone to adopt her. I recently moved into my godmothers house, and somehow convinced her I needed a dog for companion and love. When we got to the SPCA I scanned all the dogs as fast as I could to get a first impression look. I immediately noticed Dominique in a cage with another dog and she kinda propped herself up on the other dog to get closer to eye level with me. She didn't bark or behaved badly, she simply showed me she had lots of life and love to give. I didn't hesitate on my choice. She was the one I told my godmother and within 2 days she was now my dog. Over the next eight years, she gave me what no one else could. Yes, unconditional love. So much I could point out that when she was really thirsty, I would fill her bowel and while I am placing it in the carrier, she quickly gives me a kiss before starting to drink. I don't go out, I don't have any friends that live close by, and family is in another state, so when I say she was my dog, I meant she was everything. I took Dominique to the vet three weeks ago. The main issue was her constant licking of a paw and the years I spent wrapping it trying to prevent her from licking it. She was checked out, gave the Doc several kisses, and off we went with some new meds. On the 22nd of May 1999, without warning, she left me. It so happens that earlier that night she was restless in the bed with me and I brought her over to my godmothers bedroom where she lately liked to sleep ( I have lots of electronics that make ticking noises ). I was woken up to being told my dog needs me and when I went to her, I didn't realize anything was wrong, so I clapped my hands and said common Dominique. Then, it hit me like a rock. I now had the task to wrap her up in one of her blankets and used a door gate as a make shift dolly and dragged her down the stairs. ( she weighed 95 pounds ) I then had to drag her into the laundry room. I took a bunch of pills to sleep, ( It was around 345 am. ) The next morning, it was more dragging and maneuvering her and the gate into the jeep and we took her to the vet for cremation. I really thought I had a good 2 to 3 years more with her. Now all I have are the memories of joy and the sorrow and pain of loosing her. I am thankful to this site allowing me to express my feelings and keep my one and only alive in spirit.

ITS BEEN OVER THREE MONTHS SINCE YOU LEFT ME MY PUPPY. THE PAIN I HAVE FOR MISSING YOU HASN'T GOTTEN ANY EASIER. I MISS YOU SO BADLY. I LOVE YOU, AND WILL MISS YOU FOREVER.

My angel, my tears have mostly dried up when I think about you. There are still nights I cry heavy for you. We got a new dog from the shelter, I think you would like her. I am sure tho, you would make her know who's number one. She is a smaller angel, but she shows me so much love. We have bonded closely. I feel bad even when I go get the mail because she will cry loudly. I think she will have a good life here. Don't worry baby she will never replace you. I hope your sleeping well.
